アメリカ中南部のテキサス州、ニューメキシコ州、アリゾナ州およびサウスダコタ州に分布しています。ロッキー山脈の麓の日当たりがよく、岩の多い斜面に自生しています。高さは１〜３メートルになり、細い小枝が広がります。掌状の葉は互生します。５月から７月ごろ、散房花序に小さな白い花を咲かせます。

バラ科テマリシモツケ属の落葉低木で、学名は Physocarpus monogynus。英名は Mountain ninebark、Dwarf ninebark。

The Mountain ninebark (Physocarpus monogynus) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is found in the south-central United States in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota. It grows wild on sunny, rocky slopes in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It grows 1 to 3 m tall with spreading thin twigs. The palmate leaves are alternate. Small white flowers bloom in corymbs from May to July.
