西インド諸島からパナマ、南アメリカに分布しています。細い茎が匍匐し、高さは２０センチほどになります。葉は円形で淡緑色をしています。花は目立たなくて、ピンク色から白色です。ハンギング仕立てや寄せ植えに適した観葉植物です。

イラクサ科ミズ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Pilea nummulariifolia。英名は Creeping charlie。

The Creeping charlie (Pilea nummulariifolia) belongs to Urticaceae (the Nettle family). It is an evergreen perennial that is distributed from the West Indies to Panama and South America. It has a thin creeping stem and grows to a height of about 20 cm. The leaves are circular and light green. The flowers are inconspicuous and pink to white in color. It is a good houseplant for hanging or mixed planting.
