熱帯アメリカが原産です。茎の高さは３０〜５０センチになり、葉はロゼット状に互生します。夏に穂状花序をつけ、花を咲かせます。果実は集合果で、食用になります。現在では、熱帯・亜熱帯地域で広く栽培されています。

パイナップル科パイナップル属の常緑多年草で、学名は Ananas comosus。英名は Pine apple。

The pine apple (Ananas comosus) belongs to Bromeliacea (the Pine apple family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to tropical America. The stem can reach 30-50 cm in height and the leaves are alternate and arranged in rosette. The flowers bloom in the spikes in summer. The fruits are aggregate and used for food. Now it is cultivated widely in tropical and sub-tropical areas.
