南アフリカのケープ地方に分布しています。標高１２００〜１７００メートルの乾燥した斜面に自生し、高さは２メートルほどになります。葉は灰緑色をしていて、狭い赤色の縁取りがあります。春から秋にかけて、黄白色の小さな花を咲かせます。花序は、ピンク色からサンゴ色の苞葉に包まれ、赤い毛があります。雌雄異株です。

The Peach protea (Protea grandiceps) belongs to the family Proteaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in the Cape region of South Africa. It grows wild on dry slopes at elevations of 1200 to 1700 m and grows to about 2 m tall. The leaves are gray-green with narrow red margins. Small yellowish-white flowers bloom from spring to fall. The inflorescence is surrounded by pink to coral bract leaves with red hairs. It is dioecious.
