オーストラリアの東部、クイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州北部それにマレーシアに分布しています。亜熱帯地域の海岸近くの森に生え、樹木などに着生します。大型の「びかくしだ」です。「プラティケリウム・グランデ」に似ていますが、胞子葉に１個だけ胞子嚢をつけるのが特徴です。

ウラボシ科ビカクシダ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Platycerium superbum。英名は Giant staghorn、Staghorn fern。

The giant staghorn (Platycerium superbum) belongs to the Polypodiaceae family. It is an evergreen fern that is native to eastern Australia, Queenland south to northern New South Wales and Malaysia. This fern grows in the coastal semi-tropical forests and an epiphyte on the stem of trees. This is a large-sized staghorn fern. It resembles to the Platycerium grande, though it is characterized by one sorus (sponrangia bands) on the fertile fronds.
