The Pleione forrestii belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from western Yunnan, China to Burma. It grows on plateaus at altitudes above 2800 m. It produces pale yellow flowers on large, pale green pseudobulbs. The labellum has red spots. It is the only yellow-flowered species in the genus Pleione. In Japanese, it is called "Kibana-tokiso". In Chinese, it is called "黄花独蒜蘭" (huang hua du suan lan).
