The Mintleaf (Plectranthus madagascariensis) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to South Africa and Madagascar. The stems spread out on the ground, reaching a height of about 30 cm, and the leaves are ovate with finely serrated edges. From May to June, racemes of white or light lilac-colored flowers are produced at the top of the stem. The 3rd and lower photos show a garden cultivar, "Variegated mintleaf", with white spots on the leaf margins.
