メキシコから中央アメリカ、ペルーに分布しています。山岳地帯に生え、樹木の幹などに着生します。高さは４０センチほどになります。個々の偽球茎から、長さ５センチほどの蝋質のスプーン状の葉がでます。夏に複数の花序をだし、それぞれの花序に１００個の明るいオレンジ色の花を同時に咲かせます。花の長さは２センチほどで、外花被の３個の萼片がもっとも目立ちます。

ラン科プレウロタリス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Pleurothallis tubata (syn. Stelis emarginata)。英名はありません。

The Pleurothallis tubata belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from Mexico to Central America and Peru. It grows in mountainous areas and attaches itself to tree trunks. It grows to a height of about 40 cm. Each pseudobulb produces a waxy spoon-shaped leaf about 5 cm long. It produces multiple inflorescences in summer, each of which has 100 bright orange flowers at the same time. The flowers are about 2 cm long, and the three sepals on the outer perianth segment are the most conspicuous.
