南アフリカが原産です。匍匐性がありマット状に広がります。葉は黄緑色で光沢があり、縁には鋸歯があります。夏に花茎を伸ばして総状花序をだし、白色または淡い藤色の花を咲かせます。花弁には紫色の小さな斑があります。園芸上は、「スエーデンアイビー」とも呼ばれます。

The Swedish ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to South Africa. It is a creeping, mat-like spreader. The leaves are yellow-green and glossy, with serrated edges. In summer, it produces racemes of white or pale mauve flowers. The petals have small purple spots. It is also called "Swedish Ivy" in horticultural terms.
