The Mountain plum pine (Podocarpus lawrencei) belongs to the family Podocarpaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in southeastern Australia, from New South Wales to Victoria and Tasmania. It primarily grows in alpine and subalpine zones, reaching heights of about 4 m. Growing in wind-swept areas, it often becomes prostrate or low and spreading. The bark initially peels off in small plates but develops fibrous ridges with age. It branches profusely and grows densely. Leaves are linear-lanceolate, 6-12 mm long, arranged spirally. Female cones bear a single seed enclosed within a swollen, bright red aril.
