The Polystichum x flemingii belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from the eastern to the western Himalayas. It is an interspecific hybrid between Polystichum discretum and Polystichum yunnanense. It grows in mountain forests and along mountain streams, and is 60 to 80 cm tall. The leaves are bipinnate compound, green, slightly glossy, and papery. The leaf stalk is yellowish brown and 20 to 40 cm long, and is covered with brown scales. The sorus is arranged in a single row on both sides of the leaf vein. The indusium is irregularly serrated.
