The Showy Jacob's ladder (Polemonium pulcherrimum) belongs to Polemoniaceae (the Phlox family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Washington to northern California in the United States. It grows in dry, gravelly areas and grasslands from lowlands to alpine zones, and grows 5 to 20 cm tall. From May to July, cymes appear at the end of the stem, and blue-purple to white bell-shaped flowers bloom.
