インドが原産です。小枝が多く、潅木状になります。葉腋に１個の小さな淡黄色の花を咲かせます。花冠は３裂し、花後、直径８ミリほどの球果を数個つけます。果実は紫色に熟して食べることができます。 |

バンレイシ科ポリアルティア属の常緑低木で、学名は Polyalthia suberosa。英名は Corky-stem polyalthia。 |

The Corky-stem polyalthia (Polyalthia suberosa) belongs to Annonaceae (the Custard apple family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to India. It is shrubby with many small branches. It produces a single, small, pale yellow flower in the leaf axils. The corolla is three lobed, and after flowering, it bears several globular fruits about 8 mm in diameter. The fruits ripen to purple and are edible. |
