The rose pine (Porphyrocoma lanceolata) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Ruellia family). It is an evergreen sub-shrub that is native to Brazil. The stem is erect and it can reach about 30 cm in height. The leaves are dark green, lanceolate and arranged in opposite. The large, cone-shaped, rich purple, terminal spikes are borne and the violet-purple flowers bloom in spring and summer.
