ヨーロッパの地中海沿岸に分布しています。低地から山地の草地や岩場に生え、高さは１５〜２０センチになります。基部の葉は５出複葉で、小葉の先端には鋸歯があります。春から夏にかけて、伏せがちの花茎を伸ばして、白い花を咲かせます。

バラ科キジムシロ属の多年草で、学名は Potentilla alba。英名は White cinquefoil。

The White cinquefoil (Potentilla alba) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed along the Mediterranean coast of Europe. It grows in lowland to mountain meadows and rocky areas and is 15 to 20 cm tall. The basal leaves are pentafoliate, and the tips of the leaflets are serrated. From spring to summer, it grows a prostrate scape and produces white flowers.
