北アメリカの西部、カナダの南西部からアメリカの南西部に分布しています。森や森林地帯や草原に生え、高さは10〜60センチになります。根生葉はほとんど羽状複葉で、鋭い鋸歯があります。葉や茎は腺毛に被われています。6月から8月ごろ、上部が平たい集散花序に、2〜30個の花を咲かせます。花冠にはふつう5個の花弁があり、白色から淡黄色、黄金色をしています。

The sticky cinquefoil (Potentilla glandulosa) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is native to western North America, from southwestern Canada to the southwestern United States. This herb grows in forests, woodlands and grasslands, and it can reach 10-60 cm in height. The mostly basal leaves are pinnately compound and sharply serrate. The leaves and stems are glandular pubescent. The 2 to 30 flowers bloom in a flat-topped cyme from June to August. The corolla has usually five petals which may be white to pale yellow to gold.
