インドネシアとフィリピンが原産です。フィリピンのサババナナとブルージャワバナナに最も密接に関連する品種です。植物学的には、ＡＢＢゲノムグループの Musa x paradisiaca の３倍体として分類されています。干ばつと風に強く、高さは３．６〜４．２メートルになります。バナナの隣接する二つの房が融合し、祈りの手を見せています。個々の房は、通常６〜７個の果実で構成されます。中くらいの大きさの果実は、完熟すると房から簡単に分離し、厚い皮はほんの少しだけ付着します。果肉は、明るい黄白色で硬く、でんぷん質です。バニラのわずかな香りとやや甘い味があります。

The praying hands banana (Musa cv. Praying Hands) belongs to Musaceae (the Banana family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Indonesia and the Philippines. It is a variety most closely related to the saba and blue java bananas of the Philippines. Botanically it is classified as a Musa hybrid in the ABB genome group, a triploid of Musa x paradisiaca. It is both drought and wind resistant, and can reach 3.6-4.2 m in height. Two adjacent hands of bananas are fused, giving the appearance of praying hands. Each hand is typically made up of 6 to 7 individual fruits. Each medium-sized banana separates easily from the bunch when fully ripe, the thick skins adhering only slightly. The flesh is a bright yellow-white, firm and starchy. They have a semi-sweet flavor with a hint of vanilla.
