The Moonlight primrose (Primula alpicola) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in Bhutan and Tibet (Xizang Autonomous Region) around the Himalayas. It grows in alpine meadows at 3700 to 4600 m above sea level, in alpine meadows, and is 15 to 90 cm tall. The leaves are oblong to elliptic with long petioles and serrations. In summer, it grows a scape and produces umbels of purple, white or yellow flowers. In Chinese, it is called "雑色鐘報春" (za se zhong bao chun).
