The Primula capitata belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed around the Himalaya, Bhutan, Sikkim, Tibet and Yunnan of China. This herb grows in alpine grasslands at altitudes between 2700 and 5000 m, and can reach 10-45 cm n height. The leaves are oblong, serrated and covered with fine hairs. The flowering stalks are borne in summer. The flowers are blue-purple with a yellow center, and bloom in conical clusters.
