ヒマラヤの周辺に分布しています。標高１５００～４１００メートルのところに生え、高さは５～３０センチになります。葉は長楕円形から倒披針形で鋸歯があり、葉柄には翼があります。４月から７月ごろ、球状の花序をだして、紫色や白色の花を咲かせます。別名で「たまざきさくらそう（玉咲き桜草）」とも呼ばれます。中国語では「球花報春（qiu hua bao chun）」です。

サクラソウ科サクラソウ属の多年草で、学名は Primula denticulata。英名はありません。

The Primula denticulata belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distribured around the Himalaya. This herb grows in ighlands 1400-4100 m elevation and can reach 5-30 cm in height. The eaves are oblong to oblanceolate with serratus edges and winged petioles. It bears the spherical inflorescences and blooms purple or white flowers from April to July. In Chinese. it is called "球花報春" (qiu hua bao chun).
