ヒマラヤの西部に分布しています。標高２５００〜４５００メートルの草地に生え、高さは１０〜２０センチになります。葉は披針形から卵形でロゼット状になり、縁には鋭い鋸歯があります。また幅広い葉柄があります。夏、花茎を伸ばして散形花序をだし、紫色から藤色の花を３〜１０個咲かせます。

The Primula elliptica belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the western part of the Himalayas. It grows in meadows at elevations of 2500 to 4500 m and is 10 to 20 cm tall. The leaves are lanceolate to ovate, in rosettes, and have sharp serrations on the edges. They also have broad petioles. In summer, the flower stalks grow and produce umbels with 3 to 10 purple to lilac flowers.
