The Primula helodoxa belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in western Yunnan Province, south-central China. It grows in marshes and swamps at elevations of 1900 to 2000 m and grows 40 to 90 cm tall. The leaves are oblanceolate and basal in a rosette shape, with wings on the petiole. From March to April, the flower scapes extend to produce four to six whorl-like inflorescences with yellow flowers. It is called "Kibana-no-kurinso" in Japanese. In Chinese, it is "澤地灯台報春" (ze di deng tai bao chun).
