The viscid primrose (Primula latifolia) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Alps and the central and western Pyrenees. This herb grows in subalpine scrub, also on rocky substrates, at 1600-2800 m elavation, and it can reach up to 25 cm in height. The leaves are pale green, broad-oblong, sometimes toothed at top. The purplish or dark violet flowers bloom in a one-sided umbels from June to July. The flowering stalk is long and sticky.
