南アフリカが原産です。高さは１．２〜１．６メートルなり、「きょうちくとう（夾竹桃）」に似た葉は細長く長さ１５センチほどです。若葉のころにはビロード毛に被われています。秋から春にかけて、茎の先に濃いピンク色の花を咲かせます。花弁のように見えるのは苞葉で、先端には黒い毛があります。 |

ヤマモガシ科プロテア属の常緑低木で、学名は Protea neriifolia。英名は Oleander leaved protea、Oleander-leaf protea。 |

The Oleander leaved protea (Protea neriifolia) belongs to the family Proteaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is native to South Africa. It grows 1.2 to 1.6 m tall. The leaves, similar to those of the oleander, are slender and about 15 cm long. When young, they are covered with velvet hairs. Dark pink flowers bloom at the ends of the stems from fall to spring. The bract leaves, which look like petals, have black hairs on the tips. |
