The Alpine false springparsley (Pseudocymopterus montanus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the southwestern United States to northern Mexico. It grows in highland forests, woods and grasslands, and grows to a height of 60 to 80 cm. The shape of the leaves varies greatly, and the external shape ranges from ovate-oblong to broadly ovate, and they are divided into pinnate to tripinnate compound leaves. The final lobes of the leaflet is lanceolate to filiform. From May to October, it produces a compound umbel at the top of the stem, and usually produces yellow, sometimes red, orange or purple flower heads. It is characterized by the presence of short bristles at the base of the umbel. The fruit is an achene that is elliptic to ovate-elliptic in shape.
