ヨーロッパが原産です。標高９００〜２７００メートルの山地草原に生え、高さは１０〜２５センチになります。葉は３出複葉で、小葉は２回羽状に分裂します。全体に毛に被われています。５月から７月ごろ、内側が淡黄色の６個の萼片のある花を咲かせます。

キンポウゲ科オキナグサ属の多年草で、学名は Pulsatilla apiifolia。英名は Alpine pasqueflower。

The Alpine pasqueflower (Pulsatilla apiifoli) belongs to Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is a subspecies of "Pulsatilla alpina". This grows in European montane grasslands 900-2700 m elevation and can reach 10-25 cm in height. The leaves are ternate and the leaflets are bipinnatisect. The plant is hirsute. The flowers are hexamerous, inside pale yellow and bloom from May to July.
