The common langwort (Pulmonaria officinalis) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Europe. This herb grows in damp open woods and thickes, to 1900 m elevation, and can reach 15-25 cm in height. The summer leaves are cordate and distinctly white variegate. The flowers are pink at first, turning blue or bluish-violet, and bloom in cymes from March to May.
