The red lungwort (Pulmonaria rubra) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to south-eastern Europe; Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Yugoslavia. This herb grows in thickets and woods, and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The leaves are long-ovate, abruptly tapered to petioles at the bases, and covered with long setas. The brick red flowers bloom in early spring.
