The liverleaf wintergreen (Pyrola asarifolia) belongs to the Pyrolaceae family. It is an evergreen herb that is native to western North America; from Alaska south to northern California. This herb grows in moist forest margins, and it can reach 10-40 cm in height. The leaves are several in a basal rosette, round to elliptic or obovate, with entire to noticeably small-toothed edges. The pinkish to rose or purplish-red, nodding flowers bloom in an elongated cluster from June to August. Thee fruits are round capsules.
