コーカサス地方の北部からトルコに分布しています。草地や雑木林に生え、高さは１５〜３０センチになります。葉は広卵形から円形で、不規則な鋸歯があり、ほとんど羽状にも見えます。晩春から夏にかけて、藤色や淡青色または白色の花を咲かせます。写真中２・３は、園芸品種の「オクスフォードブルー（cv. Oxford Blue）」、写真下は「ウォーターペリーブルー（cv. Waterperry Blue）」。

ゴマノハグサ科クワガタソウ属の多年草で、学名は Veronica peduncularis。英名は Speedwell。

The speedwell (Veronica peduncularis) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the northern Caucasus region and Turk. This herb grows in grasslands and brushes, and can reach 15-30 cm in height. The leaves are broad ovate to round with irregular toothed edges, and seems like pinnately. The flowers are lavender, pale blue or white, and bloom from late spring to summer. The 3rd and 4th photos are a cultivar 'Oxford Blue', and the undermost is 'Waterperry Blue'.
