The waterperry blue speedwell (Veronica cv. Waterperry Blue) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is a garden origin species. This plant is low, creeping, mound-forming, and it can reach 5-15 cm in height. The leaves are shiny green, oval with tinges of burgundy in spring, turning dark green in color the rest of the year. The many dark-veined, lavender-blue flowers bloom in spring and intermittently throughout the summer.
