ブラジルの南東部のエスピリト・サント州からパラナ州に分布しています。湿潤熱帯バイオームの低地に生え、高さは９０センチほどになります。光沢のある明るい緑色の葉を３０〜４０個つけます。葉には、ヒエログリフのような線状の横模様があります。春に長い花茎をだし、枝分かれした花序にくすんだ黄色の花を咲かせます。

パイナップル科インコアナナス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Vriesea hieroglyphica。英名はありません。

The Vriesea hieroglyphica belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in the southeastern part of Brazil, from Espirito Santo to Parana. It grows in lowlands in humid tropical biome and grows up to 90 cm tall. It bears 30 to 40 glossy, bright green leaves. The leaves have a linear horizontal pattern that resembles hieroglyphics. In spring, it produces long flower stalks and produces dull yellow flowers on branched inflorescences.
