メキシコから中央アメリカが原産です。高さは５〜１５メートルになります。葉は掌状複葉で、卵形から披針形の小葉が３〜７個つきます。冬に総状花序をだし、緑色を帯びた花を咲かせます。果実は、直径７．５〜１０センチの球形で、黄緑色に熟します。果肉はクリーム色から淡い黄色で甘味が強く、食用になります。

ミカン科シロサポテ属の常緑高木で、学名は Casimiroa edulis。英名は White sapote。

The white sapote (Casimiroa edulis) belongs to Rutaceae (the Citrus family). It is a tall evergreen tall tree that is native to eastern Mexico and Central America. This tree can reach 5-15 m in height. The leaves are palmately compound with 3-7 ovate to lanceolate leaflets. The racemes are borne and bloom greenish flowers in winter. The fruits are round 7.5-10 cm in diameter and ripen in yellowish green. The flesh is creamy white to pale yellow, strong sweet and edible.
