アブラナ科アブラナ属の二年草で、学名は Brassica oleracea var. capitata。英名は Cabbage。
The Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) belongs to Brassiaceae (the Mustard family). It is a biennial herb that is native to the coastal areas of the Mediterranean Sea. The leafy original species is found in the coastal places in Greece and Italia. The cabbage is derived from a wild species and has a round head. The yellow flowers come in late spring to early summer.
The 12th photo is a "Cabecon". It is a hybrid plant made by grafting cabbage onto radish. It was born from the idea of making it resistant to root-knot disease and harvesting the roots as well, but due to the low success rate of grafting, it has not yet been put to practical use.
"Cabbage" is currently available in the market throughout the year in the form of White cabbage, Spring greens, and the intermediate type of Highland cabbage. In addition to the regular type, there are other strains such as the Green cabbage, the Red cabbage with reddish-purple leaves, Bamboo shoot-shaped cabbage with pointed head, and the Savoy cabbage, whose leaves are shriveled to a crape-like shape.
