The Paper bark tree (Melaleuca leucadendron) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed from Vietnam and Malaysia to northern Australia. It grows in wetlands along the coast and grows up to 30 m tall. The bark is grayish-white and peels off like paper. The long, elliptic leaves are leathery and alternate, and the brush-like, yellowish-white flowers bloom from May to August. The branches and leaves are distilled to yield Cajeput oil, and the leaves are made into a tea.
