ボリビア、ペルーそれにブラジルが原産のハエマトケファラ種の園芸品種です。高さは２〜３メートルになります。１２月から３月ごろ、真っ白な長い雄しべが目立つ「ねむのき」に似た花を咲かせます。

マメ科ベニゴウカン属の常緑低木で、学名は Calliandra haematocephala cv. Alba（syn. Calliandra haematocephala cv. Albiflora）。英名は White powder-puff。

|
White powder-puff (Calliandra haematocephala cv. Alba) belongs to the Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a small evergreen tree that is a cultivar of Red powder-puff (Calliandra haematocephala) native to Bolivia, Peru and Brazil. This small tree can reach 2-3 m in height. From December to March, Mimosa-like flowers are seen with visible long whitish stamens.
