ブラジルが原産です。高さは１メートルくらいになり、葉は卵円形で光沢があります。円柱状の花序に、蝋細工のような苞がつきます。写真は園芸品種の「アイスブルー（cv. Ice Blue）」、苞が青みがかった白色になります。 |

The Calathea burle-marxii belongs to the family Marantaceae. It is an evergreen herb that is native to Brazil. It grows to about 1 m tall, and its leaves are ovate-round and glossy. The inflorescence is cylindrical with waxy bracts. The photo shows the cultivar 'Ice Blue', whose bracts are bluish white. |
