カルセオラリア (巾着草)

中央アメリカから南アメリカにかけてが原産です。原種は小低木または多年草ですが、現在出回っているのは改良種です。これは寒さや高温多湿に弱く、わが国では一年草として扱われています。葉は卵形で、根生および枝に対生します。花弁は２個で、下部の弁が大きく巾着のようなかたちをしています。和名では「きんちゃくそう（巾着草）」と呼ばれます。 |

ゴマノハグサ科キンチャクソウ属の、学名は Calceolaria x herbeohybrida。英名は Pocketbook plant、Slipper flower、Pouch flower。 |

The Pocketbook plant (Calceolaria x herbeohybrida) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Central and South America. The original species is a small shrub or perennial herb, but the species currently available are improved varieties. It is not tolerant of cold, heat, or humidity, and is treated as an annual in Japan. The leaves are ovate, and grow opposite each other on the base and branches. It has two petals, with the lower petal being larger and shaped like a purse. It is called "kinchaku-so" in Japanese. |
