メキシコや中央アメリカが原産です。この小低木は、高地で松やオークを見つけることができる地域で育ちます。高さは１〜１．５メートルです。またこの植物はよく分枝し、卵形で対生する葉をつけます。白くて芳香のある花を、か弱い茎の上に咲かせます。メキシコでは、この植物は赤痢や発熱の治療薬として利用されています。

キク科カレア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Calea ternifolia (syn. Calea zacatechichi)。英名は Dream herb、Bitter-grass。

The dream herb (Calea ternifolia) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Mexico and Central America. This shrub grows in the highlands, in a region, where one can also find pines and oaks. It measures 1-1.5 m in height. The plant has many branches with ovate and opposite leaves. It blooms attractive white fragrant flowers on long slender stalks. In Mexico the plant is used as an herbal remedy for dysentery and fever.
