中央アメリカのエルサルバドルからパナマが原産です。高さは９０〜１２０センチほどになり、長楕円形のベルベットのような葉が特徴です。冬に愛らしい「ばら（薔薇）」に似た黄白色の花を咲かせます。 |

クズウコン科カラテア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Calathea warscewiczii。英名は Jungle velvet。 |

The Jungle velvet (Calathea warscewiczii) belongs to the family Marantaceae. It is an evergreen herb that is native to El Salvador to Panama in Central America. It grows 90 to 120 cm tall and has long, elliptic, velvety leaves. It produces lovely yellowish-white flowers in winter that resemble roses. |
