アメリカのノースカロライナ州立大学で三元交配によって生まれた園芸品種です。（「なつろうばい」Calycanthus chinensis ×「くろばなろうばい」Calycanthus florida）×（「なつろうばい」Calycanthus chinensis ×「 はなろうばい」Calycanthus occidentalis）から得られた実生から選抜・作出されました。高さは２メートルほどになります。葉は大きく、光沢があり、濃い緑色です。５月から６月ごろ、クリームホワイト色の花を咲かせます。花は直径１２〜１５センチ、中心に紫色と黄色のマーキングがあり、強い芳香があります。

The Calycanthus cv. White Dress belongs to Magnoliaceae (the Magnolia family). It is a small deciduous tree that is a cultivar produced by threeway crossing at North Carolina State University in the United States. It was selected and produced from seedlings obtained from ("Chinese sweetshrub" Calycanthus chinensis x "Eastern sweetshrub" Calycanthus florida) x ("Chinese sweetshrub" Calycanthus chinensis x "Californian allspice" Calycanthus occidentalis). The height will be about 2 m. The leaves are large, shiny and dark green. The cream-white flowers come in May to June. The flowers are 12 to 15 cm in diameter, with purple and yellow markings in the center and a strong fragrance.
