北アメリカの太平洋岸、オレゴン州南部からバハカリフォルニア州に分布しています。海岸の砂地に生え、茎は匍匐して６０〜１２０センチの長さになります。葉は卵形で、灰色の毛に被われています。４月から８月ごろ、茎の先端近くに、鮮やかな黄色の４弁花を咲かせます。

アカバナ科カミッソニア属の多年草で、学名は Camissonia cheiranthifolia。英名は Beach primrose。

The beach primrose (Camissonia cheiranthifolia) belongs to Onagraceae (the Evening primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is native southward from southern Oregon along the Pacific Coast in the United States to Baja California. This herb grows on beach sands and the stems are creeping 60-120 cm long. The leaves are ovate, covered with grayish hairs. The bright yellow, four-petaled flowers come upward near ends of stems from April to August.
