The Camellia cucphuongensis belongs to Theaceae (the Tea family). It is a small evergreen tree that is discovered in Cuc Phuong National Park, 100 km south-west of Hanoi, Ninh Binh Province, northern Vietnam in 1994. It is a subtropical camellia. It is from the same family as the "Yellow camellia", but is distinguished by the high number of seeds in the fruit.
