ヨーロッパからシベリア西部に分布しています。山地の牧草地や草地に生え、高さは２５〜５０センチになります。茎はか細く、上部で分枝します。根生葉は披針形、茎葉は広線形です。６月から８月ごろ、枝先の散形花序に、淡青色から白色の漏斗形の花を咲かせます。花冠は５深裂し、平開します。

キキョウ科ホタルブクロ属の二年草で、学名は Campanula patula。英名は Spreading bellflower。

The Spreading bellflower (Campanula patula) belongs to Campanulaceae (the Bellflower family). It is a biennial herb that is native to Europe and western Siberia. This herb grows in montane meadow or grasslands and can reach 25-50 cm in height. The stems are slender and branched at the upper part. The basal leaves are lanceolate and the cauline leaves are broad linear. The pale blue to white, funnel-shaped flowers come in the terminal umbels from June to August. The corolla is deeply divided into 5-lobes and spread out.
