ヨーロッパアルプスからバルカン半島に分布しています。標高９００〜２７００メートルの高地草原に生え、高さは１０〜５０センチになります。根生葉は倒披針形で全縁、茎葉は線状披針形からへら形です。６月から７月ごろ、茎頂に密な穂状花序をだし、黄白色の鐘形の花を咲かせます。

キキョウ科ホタルブクロ属の二年草で、学名は Campanula thyrsoides。英名は Yellow bellflower。

The Yellow bellflower (Campanula thyrsoides) belongs to Campanulaceae (the Bellflower family). It is a biennial herb that is native to the Alps and the Balkan Peninsula. This herb grows in upland meadows 900-2700 m elevation and can reach 10-50 cm in height. The basal leaves are oblanceolate and entire, the cauline leaves are linear-lanceolate to lorate. The dense terminal spike is borne and yellowish-white campanulate flowers bloom in June to July.
