The Magic flower (Cantua buxifolia) belongs to Polemoniaceae (the Phlox family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed from Peru to Bolivia and northern Chile. It grows in the Andes mountains above 3000 m and reaches a height of 1.8 to 3 m. The trunk is erect and the branches are arching. The leaves are small, ovate, and gray-green in color. In late spring, it produces long, bell-shaped, red or orange-red flowers. It is the national flower of Bolivia and is called "Cantuta".
