ケープフクシア [Index] [Back] アフリカの南部が原産です。湿り気のある斜面や河岸などに生え、高さは６０〜１００センチになります。葉は鮮やかな緑色で、丸みのある剣状、真っ直ぐな濃赤色の茎に沿って、対になってつきます。花は、黄色の咽があり、淡い赤色、垂れ下がった筒状で、５月から晩秋にかけて、段になった円錐花序に咲きます。写真は、園芸品種の「アフリカンクイーン（cv. African Queen）」。  ゴマノハグサ科ケープフクシア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Phygelius x rectus。英名は Cape fuchsia、Cape figwort。  The Cape fuchsia (Phygelius x rectus) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is an evergreen subshrub that is native to southern Africa. This subshrub grows in wet slopes and banks, and up to a height of 60-100 cm. The leaves are bright green, rouded arrow shaped, paired along erect deep red stems. The flowers are yellow throated, pale red, pendent tubular, and bloom in tiered panicles from May to late fall.
