メキシコからホンジュラスに分布しています。標高１６００メートルあたりの高地に生える着生種です。冬から春にかけて、鮮やかな橙黄色から橙赤色の花を咲かせます。写真中２・下はグッタータ種（Cattleya guttata）との交配品種「チョコレートドロップ・コダマ（Chocolate Drop 'Kodama'）」。

ラン科カトレア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Cattleya aurantiaca。英名はありません。

The Cattleya aurantiaca belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from Mexico to Honduras. It is an epiphytic species that grows at high altitudes around 1600 m above sea level. It produces bright orange-yellow to orange-red flowers from winter to spring. The 3rd and bottom photos show Cattleya Chocolate Drop 'Kodama', a hybrid with Cattleya guttata.
