The Cattleya forbesii belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed along the coast of southeastern Brazil. Near the coast, it attaches itself to shrubs and quays, while slightly inland, it attaches itself to trees growing in wetlands. It is a small species with two narrowly lanceolate leaves on long, thin pseudobulb. The pink to pale greenish-white flowers, about 7 cm in diameter, bloom from spring to summer. The lips are white and the throat is yellow.
