ブラジル南東部の海岸沿いに分布しています。海岸近くでは低木や岸壁に着生し、やや内陸に入ったところでは湿地に生える樹木に着生します。小型種で、細くて長い偽鱗茎に狭披針形の葉を２個つけます。春から夏にかけて、直径７センチほどのピンクから淡い緑白色の花を咲かせます。唇弁は白く、咽は黄色です。 |

The Cattleya forbesii belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed along the coast of southeastern Brazil. Near the coast, it attaches itself to shrubs and quays, while slightly inland, it attaches itself to trees growing in wetlands. It is a small species with two narrowly lanceolate leaves on long, thin pseudobulb. The pink to pale greenish-white flowers, about 7 cm in diameter, bloom from spring to summer. The lips are white and the throat is yellow. |
