キャットミント (犬薄荷)

地中海沿岸が原産で、高さは４０センチくらいになります。甘くてさわやかな香りがあり、ポプリに使われます。葉の表面には綿毛が生え、ビロードのような感じがします。５月から９月ごろ、藤色から紫色の花を咲かせます。おなじイヌハッカ属の仲間で、白花の「キャットニップ（Nepeta cataria）」と同じように、猫が好きな香りのハーブとして有名です。 |

シソ科イヌハッカ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Nepeta x faassenii。英名は Catmint。 |

The Catmint (Nepeta x faassenii) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to coastal areas of the Mediterranean Sea. This herb can reach about 40 cm in height. The leaves are covered with velvety hairs. They have a sweet, brisk scent and used for a potpourri. The lavender to purple flowers appear from May to September. Like its fellow Nepeta genus, the white-flowered "Catnip" (Nepeta cataria), it is famous as an aromatic herb that cats love. |
